Dr. DuPéré’s Eyelid Surgery Techniques
Eyelid surgery takes place under either general anesthesia or IV sedation with local anesthesia.
In upper lid procedures, Dr. DuPéré removes excess skin and fat to reduce sagging and hooding.
The traditional lower lid technique removes most of the fat from under the lids. In many patients, this fat can be used instead to fill up the tear trough, or the depression between the lid and the cheek seen with aging.
Because young adults generally lack a clear lid-cheek margin, Dr. DuPéré conserves as much fat in this area as possible. This “fat redraping” technique also helps minimize the dark colour of some patients’ lower lids.
Many eyelid surgery patients can also benefit from the rejuvenating effect of brow lift procedures, fat grafting, botulinum A wrinkle smoothing injectables, or injectable dermal fillers.
