This 59-year old lady did not like looking at her reflection naked. Age was not an issue, but she wanted a more youthful look to her body so she could enjoy fitted and tailored clothing. She was unhappy with having to wear a size larger than needed to hide her protruding belly and back rolls. The patient also wanted her overly large breasts reduced to a size that would match her body, with smaller areolas that would be in the right position rather than pointing downward.
The patient came in for a consultation with Toronto plastic surgeon, Dr. Marc DuPéré at Visage Clinic. Dr. Marc DuPéré discussed a tummy-tuck (abdominoplasty) procedure with liposuction to back rolls and love handles. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. DuPéré also discussed a breast lift (mastopexy) that included liposuction, reducing the size of the areolas (brown disk around the nipples) and the re-positioning of the nipples to the proper more superior location for younger-looking breasts. The patient decided to have both the tummy-tuck and the breast lift/mastopexy done together (the so-called Yummy-Mommy procedure).
During the surgery, Dr. Marc DuPéré performed liposuction to the bra rolls, axillary rolls, abdomen and hips. Dr. Marc DuPéré removed excess breast tissue, re-designed the areola’s size and position to compliment the breast lift/mastopexy. During the tummy-tuck procedure, Board certified Toronto plastic surgeon, Dr. Marc DuPéré, excised the redundant skin and fat tissue while the patient was slightly flexed. The patient had significant weakness of the recti muscles (stomach muscles) – often seen after pregnancy. To repair the muscle, Dr. Marc DuPéré in Toronto plicated and imbricated the rectus abdominis fascia (the 6 and 8-pack muscle since in very athletic and lean people) with multiple sutures to tighten and strengthen it. The umbilicus or belly button was re-positioned to a new higher position and shaped more youthfully. Dr. Marc DuPéré sculpted our lady to a more youthful rejuvenated body.
Six weeks later, our patient was extremely thrilled with her new smooth silhouette. Her wardrobe was re-stocked with new fashionable and well-fitting outfits.
