This gentleman requested a consultation with Top Toronto Plastic Surgeon Dr. Marc DuPéré, in regards the possibility having his right calf muscle enhanced with a soft silicone gel implants. He was an extremely athletic person, but had been born with a unilateral club foot that had been corrected with casts and braces as a child, which still resulted in right lower leg hypoplasia of the calf muscle. The gentleman wanted to see if it was possible to have more symmetry in the size between the right and left leg calf muscles.
Dr. Marc DuPéré, is a renowned plastic surgeon that specializes in body implants. Dr. DuPéré is one of the few elite surgeons in North America that successfully uses calf implants to create symmetry for patients that are born with unilateral club feet and to add definition and shape to the lower legs, for people born with bilateral club feet to balance the total leg.
At his consultation, Dr. Marc DuPéré determined that the patient would be an excellent candidate for an extended length implant as his ankle was also very thin. Dr. DuPéré thoroughly went over all the risks and complications of calf implant surgery, what are the realistic expectations and what the recovery time is for calf implant surgery. The patient had been hoping for a procedure that would result in a stronger looking calf muscle and decided to proceed with the surgery.
The patient was extremely good and followed Dr. DuPere’s recovery protocols to the ‘T’. The first week post surgery, he came into clinic with the help of crutches. By the second week he was walking normally. He was so ecstatic with the improvement of lower right leg that he wanted to share his story with other people who have calf hypoplasia and the solution that is available with Dr. Marc DuPéré, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Toronto, Canada.
