Laser Hair Removal

Forever Bare BBL

At Visage Clinic, we use both Forever Bare BBL and CynoSure’s Elite+™ devices for hair removal. While both devices provide excellent results, one may be a better choice for you depending on your skin type and the condition of your hair. During your consultation, we thoroughly evaluate the area of your unwanted hair and will recommend the best option for your situation. Unlike most other clinics, offering you 2 hair removal methods allows for a more customized approach and ensures the best outcome for your needs.

Our experienced laser technicians apply a pulsating laser light to areas where the patient has unwanted body hair. The laser penetrates the skin into the follicles, disrupting each follicle’s ability to produce hair. Laser hair removal can cover a much larger area at a time than other treatments, such as electrolysis. Results are excellent, but patients may need yearly maintenance.

Laser hair removal at Visage Clinic is a safe, quick, and convenient way to eliminate hair from several areas of your body. Request a consultation online or call our office at (416) 929-9800 to learn more.

Visage Clinic’s Laser Hair Removal Techniques

Forever Bare BBL

Our experienced laser technicians apply a pulsating laser light to areas where the patient has unwanted body hair. The laser penetrates the skin into the follicles, disrupting each follicle’s ability to produce hair. Laser hair removal can cover a much larger area at a time than other treatments, such as electrolysis. Results are excellent, but patients may need yearly maintenance.

Most of Dr. DuPéré’s Toronto laser hair removal patients require several sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart to ensure long-lasting results. This is because hairs grow in cycles, and laser hair removal is only effective during each hair’s growth phase.

Many patients can also benefit from other light and laser therapies such as intense pulsed light treatments and laser skin resurfacing.

Your Common Laser Hair Removal Questions

Why is Visage Clinic a good choice for laser hair removal?

There is no shortage of options for laser hair removal available today. However, Dr. DuPéré has selected both the Forever Bare BBL and the Elite+ devices. BBL, short for broadband light, sends pulses of light energy throughout a wider area at once, covering a larger treatment site in less time. On the other hand, Elite+ uses a dual wavelength laser to gently, yet effectively disrupt follicular activity. We’re pleased to offer 2 distinctive devices to our prospective hair removal patients. Our staff has been extensively trained on each and can make a specific recommendation just for you during your consultation.

Can I shave before my laser hair removal?

It’s a common misconception that hair removal of any sort is prohibited before a laser hair removal procedure. However, you may safely shave or trim your unwanted hair before your visit. Not all forms of hair removal are permitted, however. Waxing, tweezing, depilatories, and any other type of hair removal that removes hair beneath the skin’s surface can affect your laser hair removal results. It’s best to avoid these for at least 3 weeks before your visit. We also advise against sun exposure or sunless tanning (such as in a salon) from 3 to 4 weeks before your procedure, as there must be a good contrast between the color of your skin and the color of your hair for the treatment to be effective.

What kind of hair responds best to laser hair removal?

When it comes to the effectiveness of laser hair removal, the type or location of the hair doesn’t matter as much as the color of the hair. Because laser hair removal uses the pigment in hair to conduct laser energy to the follicle, dark hair on lighter skin tends to respond best. A strong contrast is helpful because it more efficiently directs the laser to the hair follicle. It is important to note that many of today’s lasers, including the devices used at Visage, are better equipped to treat people with darker skin tones. You can learn more about the differences between laser devices in this blog post by Dr. DuPéré.
