Buttock implant procedure is performed under general anesthesia in a fully-accredited surgi-center. Our centers are level 3 accreditation, the maximal level of safety granted by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. I work with surgical and operating room registered nurses and board-certified anesthesiologists. My team is very experienced with aesthetic surgery.
Buttock augmentation with implants is now a common procedure in my Toronto Visage Clinics for both males and females.
For your Toronto buttock augmentation procedure, you will be turned over on your abdomen, so let Dr. DuPéré and his team know if you have any bony or joint problems when lying on your stomach.
The buttock implant procedure takes approximately 2.5 hours of surgical time.
The buttock soft silicone implants are inserted via a 5-6cm incision within the crease between the two buttocks (the inter-gluteal cleft). Once healed, the scar is easily camouflaged in the shadow of the crease.
Models
I placed the implants under the fascia of the original buttock muscle (gluteus maximus) and within the muscle itself (centre diagram). Putting it all the way under the muscles (left diagram) can endanger the sciatic nerve and its vessels and putting it under the fat (right diagram) will likely lead to displacement of the implants as fat is weak and offers no support. Putting the implants under fascia (strongest support layer) and within the muscle helps to blunt all edges of the implant so it looks smooth and natural. The location of the implantation will be discussed with you at the time of your consultation.
I commonly perform some liposuction (SAL, PAL, high-definition or by hand), especially from the waist region in both males and females; this will further contour the buttocks according to the male and female buttock shapes and the fat can be transferred somewhere else such as the face, the hips, the breasts and the buttocks.
Fat transfer might also be used to complement the buttock augmentation, a Toronto procedure commonly referred to as Brazilian Butt Lift. This can further augment the buttocks and also can treat adjacent depressions and/or to assure that the edges of the implants are not visible (in thin patients for example).
Most patients go home the same day if this is the only procedure they are having. If needed, overnight stay can be arranged at the surgi-center with a registered nurse’s supervision or at their home with a nurse.
