Extreme Breast Augmentation: Why You Need a Surgeon Who Is Willing to Say No

September 30th, 2019 Share

Bigger isn’t always better when it comes to breast augmentation here in Toronto—especially when it’s taken to the extreme. There are a few reasons why a plastic surgeon may say no to oversized implants, all of which are for your benefit. A trustworthy, honest surgeon is your main defense against extreme, unnatural-looking breast augmentation results.

In this blog post, I’ll explain why you should choose a surgeon who will say no to extreme plastic surgery requests and guide you to a more sustainable, proportional, and flattering outcome.

Avoiding Discomfort

Choosing proportional implants can create a notable size increase without causing the negative issues associated with excessively large breasts. Back pain, difficulty exercising, and skin irritation are just a few struggles associated with oversized breasts. Going for too large a size may create these issues for you, meaning your results will not be sustainably comfortable in the long run.

Preventing Disappointment

Plastic surgeons who promise satisfactory results after extreme procedures may be misleading you. Either they won’t be able to deliver on an over-the-top request, or they’ll do so at the risk of your comfort and safety. Neither option will be rewarding for you.

This is also one of the reasons I recommend against over-researching implants and setting your vision on a specific size. A plastic surgeon has valuable insight into which size will give you attractive results without harming or disappointing you. Learn more in our previous blog post.

Producing Long-lasting Results

Opting for a more realistic and proportional outcome will allow you to enjoy your results for as long as possible. Overly large implants may lead to excessive sagging, stretching of the skin over time, or the 2 implants meeting in the middle of your chest in a condition called symmastia, where the skin in the middle of the chest lifts, and you lose the cleavage.

Investing in Your Overall Well-being and Happiness

The main reason a plastic surgeon may reject an extreme request is to protect your safety and satisfaction while creating attractive and long-lasting results. A great surgeon will be committed not only to achieving an outcome you feel great about but also making sure that outcome supports your general well-being in the long run.

It’s worth noting that larger implants are appropriate in some situations. A larger size would be indicated in a very tall and broad-shouldered patient, such as with our transgender MTF patients, where the diameter of the breast implants must match their wider chests. These patients are also often very flat-chested to start with, and therefore, larger implants are often necessary.
