“Live life like you imagined…every day and in every way.”
diVa Laser Vaginal Health is one solution to aging and to the changes that occur in a woman’s intimate area with childbirth and menopause. It offers a wonderful option for vaginal rejuvenation here in Toronto.
Most women will go through childbirth, along with the associated physiological and mechanical changes to their intimate region: stretching of tissues, decreased vascularity and lubrication, and more.
Also, an unprecedented 2.7 million Canadian women (1 in 6) and 53 million American women will reach menopause over the next decade. Today, more women than ever face the many disruptive symptoms, both physical and psychological, that can accompany the transition from pre-menopausal to menopausal to post-menopausal.
However, until recent advances in technologies and the now common use of internet, there were always challenges in the patient-physician dialogue preventing this large amount of women from truly understanding and managing this important stage of life.
We all know that menopause can have a serious impact on quality of life, both at home and at work:
- Difficulty sleeping (51%)
- Hot flashes (39%)
- Fatigue (57.3%)
- Insomnia (40%)
- Night sweats (38.5%)
Visage Clinic is very excited to be the first and only clinic in Toronto to offer the newest diVa and diVaTyte. diVa, the latest innovation developed via Sciton’s hybrid fractional laser technology, expands the broad range of the JOULE platform capabilities to address a woman’s most intimate challenges. With diVa, we now have the opportunity to help women during the processes of aging and menopause have positive and empowering experiences, not to mention enhanced sexual lives.
“Childbirth and the onset of menopause bring changes to the area,” explained my colleague John J. Peet, in Texas. “Vaginal issues are common, but seldom discussed because it’s embarrassing and people have been resigned to these physical and hormonal changes.”
As many ladies know, the vaginal health market has grown substantially over the past few years. After childbirth or menopause, women will notice some changes in their most intimate areas, such as thinning, stretching, dryness, and inflammation. In addition to affecting vaginal function and sexual enjoyment, these changes can cause anxiety, which is why many women are seeking ways to rejuvenate their tissues — and their confidence.
Recent research has shown that laser resurfacing is ideal for treating vaginal tissue. In fact, science has demonstrated that vaginal mucosa responds is similarly to laser as facial skin. That plastic surgeon’s experience in laser skin resurfacing, along with our background in vaginal reconstruction and labiaplasty procedures, have led myself to introduce this important technology at VISAGE clinic and to my clients.
Having been using Sciton for facial rejuvenation for more than 12 years, I am so excited that Sciton was able to design a vaginal-delivery laser system that is fully automated, therefore eliminating the human error or imprecise factor, the diVa. diVa is the only device available that includes HPA (high precision automation) technology to ensure the safest and best treatment outcome for patients and predictability for the operator. Other technologies (FemiLift, MonaLisa, Viveve, Emsella, etc.) rely on the operator to pull out slowly and consistently the laser probe from the vagina and most times, the treatment is not uniforme. With diVa, the HPA allows operators to customize treatments based on a patient’s age, symptoms, and desired results.
“With diVa, the device automatically and completely treats an area before it moves to the next area. You can be sure to attain a consistent, even treatment every time with little or no intervention from the user.” Competing devices require manual adjustment during treatment, so you simply will not get this kind of precision with them.”
diVa is FDA cleared and Health Canada cleared for soft tissue ablation and coagulation. “The 2940 nm wavelength can be tuned from 0 to 800 microns of ablation, while the 1470 nm wavelength can be used from 0 to 700 microns of coagulation”.
diVa laser vaginal health is often combined with diVaTyte (vulvar skin rejuvenation), hormonal replacement pellets, platelet-rich plasma, the “O shot” and “G shot”, labiaplasty and vaginoplasty. More on those in my next blog posts!
