  • Restoring lost volume
  • Minimizing the appearance of veins and tendons
  • Eliminating brown spots

Dr. DuPéré’s Hand Rejuvenation Techniques

Depending on the extent of aging in the patient’s hands, Dr. DuPéré may employ several rejuvenation techniques. Hand rejuvenation can be obtained using a combination of techniques such as: hydroquinone and vitamin A and C topical creams, IPL/BBL light therapy, laser resurfacing, filler injection and fat grafting. Temporary fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse are commonly used. Those techniques are done under local anesthesia.

In cases where fat grafting is the preferred technique, in which fat is harvested using liposuction from other areas of the body and re-injected into the hands, the procedure is performed using local anesthesia with sedation.

Who is a Candidate for Hand Rejuvenation?

Hand rejuvenation treatments are ideal for individuals seeking to address common signs of aging, sun damage, and volume loss in their hands. Suitable candidates typically include those who experience thinning skin, prominent veins and tendons, age spots, and a loss of youthful fullness in the hands.

Suitable Candidates:

  • Visible Signs of Aging: Candidates should have noticeable signs of aging in their hands, such as thinning skin, wrinkles, and visible veins and tendons, that they wish to improve.
  • Sun Damage: Individuals with sunspots or hyperpigmentation caused by prolonged sun exposure can benefit from hand rejuvenation treatments.
  • Volume Loss: Candidates may have experienced a loss of volume and plumpness in the hands, resulting in a more skeletal and aged appearance.
  • Realistic Expectations: It is important for candidates to have realistic expectations about the outcomes of hand rejuvenation treatments. While these procedures can significantly improve the appearance of the hands, individual results may vary based on factors such as skin condition and age.
  • Good General Health: Candidates should be in overall good health and have no underlying medical conditions that could increase the risks associated with the treatments.
  • Commitment to Aftercare: Following hand rejuvenation treatments, candidates should be willing to follow post-treatment instructions, such as protecting the hands from sun exposure and using recommended skincare products, to maintain and prolong the results.

How Long Do the Results of Hand Rejuvenation Treatment Last?

The duration of the results from hand rejuvenation treatments can vary depending on the specific procedures performed and individual factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and aging process. Generally, the results of dermal fillers can last anywhere from six months to two years, depending on the type of filler used and how the individual’s body metabolizes the product.

For treatments such as laser resurfacing or IPL therapy, the results may be longer-lasting, particularly with proper sun protection and skincare maintenance. On the other hand, the fat that survives post fat grafting will likely last many years.  However, as the aging process continues, periodic maintenance treatments may be necessary to sustain the desired effects.

  • Dr. Marc DuPéré’s expertise in hand rejuvenation ensures that candidates achieve natural-looking and long-lasting results. He will work closely with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan and recommend the most appropriate procedures to achieve youthful and rejuvenated hands. Regular follow-up appointments and diligent aftercare will contribute to maintaining the results and preserving the enhanced appearance of the hands over time.

What is the Recovery Process After Hand Rejuvenation Treatments?

The recovery process after hand rejuvenation treatments with fillers is generally minimal, allowing candidates to resume their regular activities soon after the procedure. The exact recovery timeline may vary depending on the specific treatments performed.  Fat grafting, for eg, requires some recovery as too much movement in the grafted areas may lead to lesser fat survival.

Immediate Post-Treatment Period:

After hand rejuvenation treatments, some patients may experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites or treatment areas. These effects are typically temporary and subside within a few days.

Return to Daily Activities:

Most candidates can resume their normal daily activities immediately following hand rejuvenation treatments with fillers and/or lasers. Dr. DuPéré may recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure in the days immediately following certain treatments to optimize results and minimize the risk of complications.

Post-Treatment Care:

Following the procedure, candidates will receive post-treatment care instructions from Dr. DuPéré and his experienced team. This may include recommendations for using sunscreen, applying moisturizer, and avoiding harsh chemicals on the treated hands.

Long-Term Results:

The results of hand rejuvenation treatments can vary depending on the specific treatments chosen and individual factors. In many cases, dermal fillers can provide immediate improvement in volume and skin texture, while laser resurfacing or IPL therapy may require a series of treatments to achieve optimal results.  On the other hand, the fat that survives post fat grafting tend to last many years.

Follow-Up Appointments:

Dr. DuPéré will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor the progress and effectiveness of the hand rejuvenation treatments. These appointments also provide an opportunity for any necessary touch-up treatments or adjustments to achieve the desired outcome.

By following post-treatment instructions and attending scheduled follow-up appointments, candidates can enjoy long-lasting results and maintain the rejuvenated appearance of their hands.
