I received an email from a prospective patient. In it was stated that the patient did not want to pay the consultation fee for the fear that he or she would not go ahead with the procedure and would lose the $150 plus HST. I did not know quite how to kindly reply to her. But after much thought, I was able to give the prospective patient an answer that I will share with you.
Let’s talk about what you are getting for your $150 plus HST. There is one word that describes what you get, and that word is – knowledge. The knowledge the Board Certified Plastic Surgeon has taken years to assimilate into their brain. And don’t forget training, expertise and experience. This, he is willing to share with you for a mere $150 plus HST. What you will gain is the ability to make an educated decision about the plastic surgery procedure you are considering. That is powerful!
You will learn about options that you never knew available. You will learn about what plastic surgery fads are and what is tried and true. Risks and complications that accompany plastic surgery procedures and surgery in general will be thoroughly discussed. You will receive a quote with the exact amount your procedure fee will be. Walking out, there will be no guessing. I personally like to know what is going on. It gives me a sense of control and calm. Your consultation will give you that.

Just remember, as with everything, you get what you pay for. No consultation fees, the plastic surgeon will spend very little time explaining things to you (you likely will spend a lot more time with the nurse). No business can run off air. Whether you want to think about a doctor as a business or not, they are a professional corporation that has bills, rent and employees to pay (that means me!).
