The “G-Shot” to the “G-Spot” Explained

January 22nd, 2018 Share

The G-spot, aka the “Grafenberg spot,” is a round or slightly oblong area, 1-2 inches (2-4,5 cm) in diameter, over the anterior wall of a woman’s vaginal canal (superiorly if the lady is lying on her back). The G-spot was named after German gynecologist Ernst Gräfenberg. The G-spot has also been recently referred to as the female prostate.  The female prostate could represent the accurate term for the described Skene’s gland, which is believed to be found in the G-spot area along the walls of the urethra. Stimulation of the G-spot is known to produce vaginal orgasms in many women.

The G-spot area has been previously described with having increased amount of nerve sensory fibers. Researchers at the University of Aquila, using ultrasonography, also presented evidence that women who experience vaginal orgasms are statistically more likely to have thicker tissue in the anterior vaginal wall.

The G-Shot injection is also called G-spot amplification in my Toronto clinic. As you may know, plastic surgeons are trained in the reconstruction of both male and female genitalia, so this area of the female anatomy is well known to us. G-spot amplification was done years ago with collagen but today, I prefer to use the longer-lasting hyaluronic acids such as Restylane® and the much longer-lasting JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA and VOLIFT. G-spot amplification is a simple, non-surgical procedure that entails, delicately and under topical and local anesthesia, injecting this hyaluronic acid into this G-spot region with the help of a vaginal speculum. A female nurse assists me.

“By augmenting and thickening the G-spot area, mechanical pressure and friction is magnified during intercourse and therefore, sexual gratification can often be more easily achieved, and in many cases, amplified”.

The procedure is relatively quick one (30 minutes or so, including the wait for the topical cream) and there is no downtime.

Results can last several months.

In order to enhance fully one’s sexual pleasure, the G-shot can be performed alone but is commonly done along with:

1. the diVa laser vaginal treatment

2. diVaTyte

3. Labiaplasty

4. Surgical vaginoplasty

Patients have reported in the literature a range of positive effects from the “G-Shot”, including:

1. Increased sensation

2. Greater arousal from clitoral and vaginal stimulation

3. The ability to have an orgasm from penetrative sex when they were previously unable to

4. Younger and smoother skin of the vulva (diVaTyte)

5. Stronger and more frequent orgasms

6. Improvement in urinary incontinence

7. Decreased pain for those experiencing painful sex

8. Increased natural lubrication

9. The increased ability to have a vaginal orgasm

The results in general of the “G” Shot vary, I always explain to my patients. Results depend on various factors such as the age of the patient, if she has some concomitant medical conditions, or whether she has hormonal problems.
