Tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty)

Women and men who have loose abdominal skin and fat that is concentrated in the abdomen can benefit from an abdominoplasty. Sometimes these conditions are inherited. In other instances, substantial weight loss may cause abdominal skin to become flaccid. Abdominoplasty also tightens muscles that have been separated and weakened by pregnancy or weight gain. The procedure may often improve the appearance of stretch marks, especially those located below the navel. Depending on the amount and area to be treatment, one may benefit from a mini-abdominoplasty (shorter horizontal scar and no scar around the belly-button) or the classic traditional technique.

Mini-abdominoplasty (4 Weeks Post-Op)

A mini-tummy-tuck was performed here since most of the problem area was inferior to the belly button, avoiding any scars around it. A lower abdominal tightening of the muscles was also performed to correct the widening of those muscles commonly seen after pregnancy. The scars are still very active (pink) 4 weeks post-surgery and are expected to fade within 6-12 months.

Classic-abdominoplasty (4 Weeks Post-Op)

A standard tummy-tuck procedure was perfomred here to address the region both above and below the belly-button. A muscle tightening procedure was also performed to correct the widening of those muscles commonly seen after pregnancy. The scars are still very active (pink) 4 weeks post-surgery and are expected to fade within 6-12 months. Note that the belly-button was preserved but had to be repositioned, hence the maturing scars.
