Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Aesthetic eyelid surgery is performed on adults of all ages. Some people have eyelid surgery to correct problems that are a result of aging (excess of skin, wrinkles and/or herniated fat pads), while others have inherited traits (bags under the eyes) that cause them to seek treatment as early as their 20s or 30s.

Lower Lid Fat Redraping (8 Weeks Post-Op)

The traditional lower lid technique removes most of the fat from under the lids. In many patients, that fat can be used instead to fill up the depression between the lid and the cheek seen with aging. A young adult does not have a clear lid-cheek margin. There is a trend towards more fat conservation. This 'fat redraping' technique also helps to minimize the dark colour of the lower lid. Those pictures demonstrate the marked improvement of this depressed area in the lower lid of this patient after 2 months post-surgery. An upper lid procedure was also performed where the excess skin and fat were removed. The hyperpigmentation has been improved. The scars are still maturing.
